Features

  • The Department has a well-resourced Language Lab with Un-interrupted Power Supply and internet connection.
  • The required software is installed that prepares the students to communicate in English with clarity and confidence. With influential functions and friendly customer interface, the Language Lab assists the teaching process and persuades learners to acquire the essential expertise.
  • The Department has a Library functioning from 08:40 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. on all the working days. It has 4096 volumes of books.
  • The faculty members and students are given ample freedom to exploit all the needed resources. All the students of the Department of English are given “Deccan Chronicle” newspaper at concession rate.
  • English Literary Association:
    As the swift upsurge of student community becomes a challenge to all Educational Institutions, competitions are organized every week to instill a hope to cope up with the fast moving world. Word Formation, Spell Bee, Slogan writing, Debate, Oratorical, Essay Writing, Verse Writing, Turn Court etc. are conducted to all the students. The students are motivated to present and publish papers in conferences, seminars and in well-reputed refereed journals. All the PG students and Final year students of UG are encouraged to attend workshops and competitions organized at various institutions.
  • Drama Club:
    The Drama Club brings to lime light the innate and inborn flair in them. Eleven skits were enacted by the UG and PG students on the eve of the English Literary Association.
  • English Reading Club:
    The aim of the Reading Club is to create an opening for students to become enthusiastic and enthralled with the wonderful world of literature. The students shall reflect, discuss and debate on the infinite range of subjects.
  • Accolades:
    The students of English Literature enthusiastically participate in many workshops conducted in various colleges. Many students presented their research papers in various Regional, National and International Seminars and Conferences. Many students participate in the literary competitions, Literary Quiz, Tableau, Literary Hunt, and Freeze Zone and win prizes conducted by other colleges across Tamilnadu.
  • Additional Skills:
    Leadership Skills, entrepreneurial skills and Critical thinking to confront with complex problems.
    Communication Skills and interpersonal skills.
    Crafts students as masters of multi tasking.
    The Department, apart from handling Foundation English Courses for the students of all the Departments for the first four semesters conducts special training and coaching classes for slow learners to get through the exams with ease. Spoken English classes and placement training are conducted when in need.
